1997 Defender hazard switch bulb replacement.

Morning All,
I have a new Lucas hazard light switch to fit and the MoD manual says that I need to change the bulb out for a 24v version to match my electrics.

I can't see a way to get inside this thing.

Any advice very much appreciated.

The front comes off.2 very thin items to prise the left/right at the middle of the switch
Face comes off to show bulb.
My bulb does not flash but trailer light shows up as the warning lamp

Do you mean prising these gaps apart?

Just been out to mine for photos..
Screw drivers into front by rocker point

Prise a bit to see holes where the rocker is

Face should now pull off

The switch face is on U-shaped lugs then?

Yes.
You can see each side of the bulb where the lugs line up

Do you happen got know the colour of the 2 wires that connect on either side of that switch?

Nope….
Are they earths?
Unsure if mine are connected(if I get chance I will remove panel)

My immediate and dangerous assumption was that they are power and earth for that bulb.

Could be. Unsure what the plugs supply’s,may be just the indication & dash warning light

Just took a photo through the hole next to the switch. Looks like brown & red to 1 side.

Yes, good point. An earth would be black from what I have gathered so far.

After a process of deduction and them being the only 2 wires "in that area", I have to assume that these black & white and the plain black wires must be the power for the hazard switch bulb, or is that just too dangerous an assumption?

Pleased to report that it all went swimmingly.
I did it on my table because there was too much chance of that build flying off never to be seen again.
