Grrrrrr, good morning! I'd like to purchase that modulator in your shed. I'll pay for shipping!

Right, I've had a dig around and in fact I have an ANR2238 and an ANR2239.

However, I am not sure it will help you as there must be a reason I replaced it! One of them I know for a fact I had apart and it wasn't designed to be pulled apart. Would it work or indeed be safe? I just don't know and I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable gambling someone else's life on it. I'm pretty sure I had the ANR2239 apart as that's the one I also have on the car. The ANR2238 I kept in case I ever wanted to return the car to original spec.
 
Hi Rover9676 just returned from holiday (vacation to you) glad to see wammers has been on and sorted you out. He is the best. I had an ABS fault a while back and he helped me too. Anything I can learn from him I try and pass on to others. Hope you are back on the road again soon:p:p:p

Wammers is great! In fact you, grrr and others were as well. Much appreciated! Now I have to try and source an affordable ANR2239 Master cylinder unit. Keel your fingers crossed!!

Hey all, yesterday I found a master brake unit on Ebay in the UK. It should arrive between November 7-12. I will keep you all posted.
Okay everyone, today I received my master cylinder for my 1996 Range Rover 4.0 SE Automatic. Please chime-in with any do's or don'ts, needs to know, pit falls to avoid and helpful hints. I didn't know whether to clean it or not. That may cause problems. I hope to get to the swap this weekend.

Loads on ebay over here. If they won't post overseas I am sure one of us can take delivery and forward it on. Sometimes one of us ventures across the pond. @Wazzajnr for one, I think.
Not got any USA trips planned for a while and I suspect it would be prohibitively expensive taking that in a suitcase.
Shipping to the states isn't expensive if you're not in a rush.

I'd clean it. I think there are videos on YouTube. I need to clean mine. In order to see the fluid level you have to shine a Maglite through the filler on mine!

I don't remember any issues swapping it over. The brake light switch may need resetting afterwards - pull the plunger out, refit and then press the pedal a few times and it'll find its level.

Flushing all the air out of the modulator is the ball-ache. That's where a means of pushing the fluid through comes in handy. Don't skimp on time at that point. Lots of rags to make sure no fluid gets near the paint.

Good morning all, I cleaned my reservoir with Simple Green (A biodegradable degreaser). Filled reservoir, shook it, let it soak for ab 1.5 hours turning it upside down for 40 minutes than right up fir awhile. It did a fairly good job but I did notice some residual when it dried. In the filler chamber I got it all out but, in that separate smaller chamber at the top didn't rinse totally clean. I bolted the unit back up but wondered if it okay or should I try cleaning it again before filling it with brake fluid and connecting the pipes, lines and hoses. Do you all think it's okay or should I pry off the reservoir and try again?

I screwed up, I meant to say, you can put a cap full in your tank, it will grab onto water and burn it off, good for cleaning your brakes, and washer wiper fluid just a cap full though
 
Mixtures of isopropyl alcohol and water are also commonly used in homemade windshield washer fluid.
