Has anyone got pics and exact measurements for cutting a hole to remove the fuel pump? TemplateOriginally posted by Canyon but pics long gone. Only fragments come up on google - nothing definitive. Many thanks.

I'm a bit long in the tooth to be man handling a tank on my back in the wet. TBH rr is pretty tatty anyway so cutting a hole is the most attractive option.

What! Doesn't one have a drive with under floor heating? :D .The tank is a bit awkward to handle when its got fuel in it. Is there something in the Technical Archive? I had trouble getting the definitive dimensions when I looked ,then I got stick from Grrrrrr so gave up on that idea

I wish. And I saw the stick from other members to do the job properly! So yes I'm sticking my next out here ....
I must hold my hands up, I'm usually one of the main advocates for dropping the tank and doing the brake pipes but on that occasion I had previously changed the pump and brake pipes and was looking for an easy way out. As it happened it was a bad electrical connection that was giving me trouble.:D

As long as the fuel level is low the tank is very light. It is only plastic. Doesn't take that long to drop.

Worth thinking about the Discovery 2 cover and gasket that goes over the hole in the boot floor, I'll check parts numbers in the morning, I've got new parts for my other D2 V8.

You may have a slight amount of trouble getting a flat cover and gasket to fit on a convoluted floor. :D

Bit of quicksteel and some fettling. Bit nasty if it is sticking out into the load space with the seats forward though. Is it further forward?

It is under the N/S side of the twin rear seat when folded fully forwards. Pretty simple to make up some flanges seal and pop them in, then seal and pop cut section back down.
