Hi, I have a 1993 auto discovery, it used to be a v8 petrol but know has a Isuzu 3.1 turbo diesel, this old thing gets used only a few times a year for a bit of towing, anyway the problem is with the alarm!! It will not crank and the hazards flash! I can get it to crank if I earthout the black and orange wire but the hazards kept flashing, the hazards will stop flashing after a few seconds but as soon as a drain is put into the system they start flashing again. The central locking is working fine unless I unplug the alarm! I only have the key no fob!

It’s possible the security system is set and now in an alarm condition, hence th hazard flash, but the alarm sounder/wiring is missing, so no alarm sound.

With your disco model the security system is set via micro switches in the drivers door and set the alarm and immobiliser.
So u can either investigate each circuit and if it works correctly bypass's the immobiliser, with the wire as your already doing, it depends on what your investigation will find.

It maybe better, if you still want a full security system, to remove and replace with a new system which will give u the remote central locking with fobs, plus alarm and immobiliser all fully functional.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I’ve found if the central locking is not working then the engine crank and start straight

Sorry not sure what happened there but it sent my reply but I hadn’t finished, anyway what I was trying to say when the central locking is not working the car starts fine and no hazard lights, but while running the hazards start to flash and the central locking starts working the car still runs fine but if you turn it off it doesn’t crank no more, can I just cut and join some wiring to get rid off the black box
