Hi

The engine on my Frontera is quiet (relatively for a diesel) but at
2500rpm a sound starts which I think is the timing/cam chain (I had a
motorbike make a similar sound which was traced to a weak tensioner).

Is the timing chain tensioner on Frontera diesels adjustable? Or is it a
case of replacing it? Any other suggestions?

Regards

the haynes manual for fronteras doesn't say whether it's adjustible or not,
just how to get it out and put it in, to get the timing chain cover:

remove cylinder head cover, crankshaft pulley, coolant pump, fuel injection
pump, sump, remove the union bolt to the turbo from the cover, remove the
oil filter, remove the bolts holding on the cover, marking which come from
where since they are different lengths. remove cover...

theres more, but thats the gist...

the 2.8 is simple, remove the fan, remove the crankshaft pulley, unbolt the
top cover and remove, unbolt the bottom cover and remove.

:)
