hi to all.

i have a 1992 rolling chassis 110 which i am doing my first ever build up from the ground. it will be fully galvanized & i have decided to take it down the td5 route. i have bought an accident damaged discovery td5 to take the engine & gear box out of. it has a 10p engine with fairly low mileage.
i am aware of the gear selector what needs altering & i will need the engine chassis mounts from the discovery. i also have a full defender td5 wiring loom with ignition ecu from a 10p model. i have a defender 110 td5 fuel tank.
i no the axles are no good but i am fine with that as mine are all good & the rear will be converted to disks.
but can anybody tell me is there anything on the discovery i could use what i have not mentioned?
maybe fuel lines? filters ect. what about radiator packs or brake servos?
i would really hate to send it off for scrap not knowing there was lots of small odds & sods i could of used.
any help or advice would be appreciated.

cheers

Yes keep that and intercooler and hoses/pipes, header tank, power steering pipes might be useful , fuel filter Im sure theres more :)
thanks mate

I have a disco here i was planning stripping for a conversion.
My mate converted his 200tdi 90 to all disco td5 bits when he blew up the 200. He didnt buy much...a throttle pedal as the disco wouldnt fit. He striped out lots of the disco loom and used it. We had it running on his garage floor before it was fitted. Prity much everything under the bonnet is disco :)
The disco ecm he sent off somewhere to remove the immobiliser and remap it at the same time.
Disco handbrake cable setup is different to defender but the disco cable will work if your going to use the disco transfer.

nice one mate. thanks for that.
i dont think ill be in a rush to scrap the disco then once the engine & box are out. she can sit in the field for a while longer. sounds like there is lots i can use.
will also take the advice of the other fella on here regarding the oil pump bolt. ill remove it regardless & replace it with a new one & thread lock. may as well do the main crank seal whilst im on.
what did your mate do about the fuel tank & fuel lines? was he able to use the disco ones?

Cut the top out the disco tank where the pump fits, cut a bigger hole in the 90 side tank, made up sandwich plates and bolted the lot together. He used the disco fuel filter housing. Pipes were what he could use or plastic air pipe used in lorries.

I looked at a 110/disco tank once upon a time.... I didnt think it would fit but never tried it.
Id keep the disco until your done even just for stuff like hose clips, bolts, brackets......all the stuff that mounts up when you just have an engine :)
