Hello new member here

Is a 200 or 300tdi the best engine conversion to replace my tied 2.5td or is there something better out there.
Thanks tsd110

200tdi is probably yur best bet you can pick up an mot failur disco fer about 500/600 quids nowadays and apart from the exhaust pipe needing fettling it's a straight fit The conversion kit for the exhaust costs about £100 from steve Parker. The 300 tdi will fit but you have to weld on a new engine mount as there different on the 300.

define "not a lot"

600 Labour
120 Exhaust Manifold
100 Complete New Clutch
120 Odd Kenlowe Fan
+full Service On The Engine

Only Gripe Is The Temp Sender Dosent Read On My Guage Properly
Apparently I Need A Tdi Temp Guage
So If Anyones Got One Spare Let Me Know

thats about the same as i paid recently, you can get the block tapped out the take the old TD sender but i found a complete tdi dash complete with all guages for £30 on ebay and used the normal sender - i assume you've taken off the visous fan? - i found the best way to set the kenlowe stat was to hammer it up a motorway for 20 ish miles and before the engine cools turn the stat so that the fan is just off

I've got a 1989 90 and we put a 200tdi in it 6 years ago. only prob has been head gasket. we even kept the old air cleaner on the left hand side (makes dipstick pulling a little awkward) and the alternator from the td (which i have just replaced after 18yrs service!) 200tdi is ace, pulls well and i can cruise at 60mph no probs

Yeah, I'm thinking of going down that route too. When my TD blew to bits, I already had a 2.5 Di transit engine kicking around on the workshop floor, so a couple of hundred quid bought me a conversion kit, and its been great ever since. Now that the chassis is starting to get a bit crispy, I'm having un-clean thoughts about a shiny new galvanized one, but now I have a 3.9 Strange rover kicking round in the workshop, so I can feel another engine swap coming on!

Anyone interested in the transit conversion thats coming out?
