Evening!

I need to replace the lock barrel in my bonnet lock. Anyone got any useful experience advice on the best place to find appropriate replacement barrel and how to do it?

Cheers

Dunno about replacement barrel sorry. What I did was remove the barrel altogether and take it to a locksmiths (not a heel-bar/key cutter) and had them cut 3 keys to suit. Didn't cost a lot.

Thanks, I'd like to keep that as a last resort. I was hoping it may be possible to replace along with door lock barrels to reduce the number of keys as all three doors are currently on different keys already.

I've stripped the barrel out. Any suggestions as to which of the replacement barrel variants would fit?

Now working on the 34mm nut on the back to remove the case from the panel. It's putting up a mighty fight. It's soaking in penetrating oil for now but may need some heat next.

Hello EaryDeaf, I’m looking for the same barrel and can’t find it. I’ve looked up MTC6505R but it appears to be a different barrel. Did you have any luck finding the correct barrel? Thanks a mil

Old thread - but I thought I would add my bit.

I am just replacing the bonnet lock barrel in my 1986 110. It looks like the barrel itself is the same as the door lock barrels (MTC6505), but has a little extension that slots on the end to make the barrel longer (as shown on EaryDeaf's photos). With mine the tab off the barrel is corroded and has broken off inside it, so I am going to have to chisel it out as there don't seem to be replacements available. There don't apple to be any spares for these locks anywhere on the Interweb.

It was a devil of a job getting the 34mm nut off. Heat and threadease plus a lot of choice words with the wrong tools and it eventually came undone without destroying the cast ally outer barrel.

I'll add some photos shortly when I have it ready to reassemble.
