Hi, I have recently bought a 1984 (B reg) Land Rover 90 and i have plans on doing a top to bottom rebuild. My plans were to remove the 2.5 diesel and put a 200tdi in it. However looking at it in more detail it is in a very original state and i was wondering if it was something special with it being one of the first 90's. Was just wanting to know whether it'd be worth rebuilding it as it was out the factory or building it how I want.

If i was to build back to the original i'd sell but it'd be my run around if i did it how i'd want it.
 
The original diesel isn’t that bad. If the rest of the Landy is original, I’d keep it that way. If you wanted to make money then explore the US export option, although personally, I’d prefer to see it stay over here!
Post some pics.
 
2.5 diesel? Do the numbers match? If so I would leave well alone, you will devalue it greatly, 2.5 NA is a damn good motor, no reason why you cant use it day to day, its not a racing car. Put some pics up please.

Been asking myself this same question if I should put my 90 back to original when I rebuild it in a couple of years when I need to replace the chassis. (It wasn't original when I got it anyway)

The way I saw it is I'd have to get another for having fun in...
