Thought this might be of interest. I came across this old photo I took whilst doing environmental survey work in Finland in 1982. The Range Rover was used to tow a boat trailer around Finland. The original petrol engine failed so the Finns took advantage of a Russian built diesel engine and fitted that in its place. I remember it pulled like a train but left a smokescreen in its wake that'd have it pulled up by the police these days. I think the engine was a 4 cylinder diesel out of a Russian ex-military vehicle and was about 4 litres.
I think the Range Rover was probably 4-5 years old.
