Hi All,

I've just taken delivery of my long lost Series 2a and thought I would share. I've owned it since I was 16, I was given it by my parents for Christmas as a non runner and I fixed it up to go back on the road, which it was until 2004 when I left home and other stuff took over. Since then it has stood under a sycamore tree less than a mile from the sea at my parents house, until Saturday when it was delivered to it's new home in sunny Lytham St Annes...

I'm sorry to say it's in a much worse state than I anticipated it would be, as I've not seen it for a few years. The delivery driver said it was only really fit for spares, but the old girl turned 40 years old last week, I turn 30 next month, and luckily since I last worked on the Landy I've learnt to weld, so I'm not as worried about it as I once would have been!

Initial inspection shows that it's going to need a rear 1/4 chassis at least, a couple of outriggers, a full exhaust, some bulkhead repairs, new door tops, probably a rear door and a brake and axle overhaul. Oh, and a wash ;)
The engine turns over freely, has oil and water in it and had new ignition components before it was laid up, so hopefully I'll get some life out of the engine shortly to give me some motivation!

I have looked into complete new chassis for it, but as far as I can see you can only get galvanised ones at circa £1200 a pop? A few years back I remember you could get dipped black ones slightly cheaper, but I can't seem to find anyone that makes them now?

Any comments welcome!

Nobody does non galv ones as the price difference is minimal and the protection galv affords makes sense.

You *MAY* be able to order a non galv one as a special but it would be nigh on the same price anyway.

Oh, and good luck with her :)

I think if you have stripped it down to the chassis and you can good see the condition of the chassis, you can always choose about a new chassis  (galv or not) or the welding and perhaps sandblasting job.. :D

Sandblasting would be in my opinion the best choice, because you always can spend your money into something else. Or not?

Keep the pics coming.. :D
