If it didnt have any fitted from the factory you dont need them for mot

You don't need them in anything pre 1965.
But if they are fitted they should work, and meet the MOT requirements for security of fixings etc etc

not pre 1965 my 2a 1969 has seatbelts fitted as optional extras got it on the bill of sale so im not quite sure how it works but if they were not fited when new you dont need them

Wrong.. If they're not required they're not testable end of!!! All that "if they're fitted they must be tested" ****e went outta he window ages ago.
