18" wheels

Extra strain on suspension components as there designed for the original wheels not larger ones, speedo calibration would be thrown out due to larger rolling radius of bigger wheels, not sure if the Disco/rangie stud patterns are the same and as a fellow freelander owner don't do it, get some 15 or sixteens and put bigger tyres on them. Freelanders look **** with 18's.

Hey !!!

the 18" rims looked mint on my freelander (when i owned a freelander that is) and still, even when i see them now they still look good.

now looking for some 22" rims for my new toy :D:D:D

If they came from the factory with 18 inch rims fair enough, the facelifted freelanders look kind of ok bit if your just going to whack a set if 18's on a mk1 with no suspension mods well your asking for trouble, as for 22's On a freelander....... Don't be ridiculous!
 
:cool2:The way I see it is this, 18 inch on a sport, good looking urban 4x4, 15's or 16's mud or AT tyres still classy but more "adventurous and dirty"!!!
Bit like Cheryll Cole in knee high boots or stilettos, different looks but great ride with either.

Why on Earth do you think you need suspension mods for 18" rims :lol::lol::lol:
 
I have 17" 6 Spoke Land Rover Wheels on my 51 plate Freelander. It has 225-55-17 Tyres it is a 2 door Braemar and I do not know if this was standard or if they were fitted afterwards by one of the previous owners. Because of the rolling circumference the speedo runs around 10% high. as my previous car (an MGF) also ran with the same speedo variation with standard size wheels and tyres I assume that this is normal for Rover vehicles. I would appreciate any enlightenment.

Adjusting the size of a wheel on any car can affect the way the suspension works, negative camber, toe in/out etc etc, it can cause extra strain on driveshafts/cv joints due to larger rolling radius. When you fit different wheels you should always have the tracking re set on your car.
