hi. i'm currently running my freelander with the factory 225/55/17 tyres on triple sport alloys. i would like to fit AT tyres to the existing alloys i have but can't seem to find any AT tyres that are the same size as what i have at the mo.
Mad hat man was kind enough to post a link to a site that sold 235/65 17 pirrelli scorpion AT tyres at £108 quid each!!!!!!!!.
now these are only slightly wider that what i have but they are a bit taller so A- will they fit on my standard alloys ok ?
B- will they affect the speedo reading being a taller tyre?
Now i can't be the only freelander owner who has 17" alloys and wants to put AT tyres on so if anyone else is plannig to or already has can you let me know what you did.
oh and a tyre that doesn't cost over a ton would be nice.;)

andovers a bit to far from me. the 17" grabber is a 265/70/ 17 which is quite a lot wider than what i have at the mo so i'm pretty sure they will be to wide for my rims, where as the pirrelli is 235/65/17 which is only a bit wider than the 225/55/17 i have at the mo.

right well i'm bored so i'm reviving this thread again.
come on people, am i the only freelander owner in the country with 17" rims that wants to fit AT tyres?
one of you guys must be having the same problems as me sourcing an apropriate tyre?
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

call 0870 9009 444 - the 4*4 techy team there will help yu if anyone can. They are a dedicated supplier of 4x4 tyres and are the biggest in the country.

Hi, Pirrelli do make the scorpion in the 225/55 17, ATS can get them, the trouble is that this size is also that of a performance tyre, it's just the tread pattern that differs.
I purchased two kumho KH 11 225/55 17 for 85 squid each. Slight but noticeable increase in tyre noise ! over the Pirrellis I replaced. However my independant landy spec advises Pirrelli on the 17" wheels as he says for some reason they only likes these, others (bridgestone, goodyear etc) seem to cause vibration and excess tyre noise so he says anyway.

cheers, i'll give them a call.
should have got one with 16" rims, plenty of AT tyres for them, but no-she wanted the flashy millenium ltd edition with all the flashes bits and bloody 17" wheels. ARHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

yippeee!!!!!!!.

posted this question on another forum and some nice man informed me that colway have just released a new size for there AT tyres.
the new size is- 225/55/17 so now i can get an AT tyre the same size as the originals.
they are around the 50 quid mark so good value to.
i know they are remoulds/retreads,whatever they call then these days but the freelander don't go fast enough to melt em.
iv'e got colways on my series 3 and think they are ace, never had any probs with em.
now! how to buy/and fit em without the missus noticeing.mmmmmmmmm!:D

Gary - You are printed in LRO this month :) Asking about 17" Tyres for your freelander. Just shows you how long things take to get to print!!

Your question has been answered and you have bought and fitted whilst still waiting for a reply.

Steve
