The only thing i'm worried about now is a while back when i had the engine on the bench and removing the head, sump and ladder frame to replace leaking gaskets and seals as well as a new head gasket as a matter of course i noticed the valves didn't didn't have the cups between the valves and rockers and fitted new ones, the engine turnes over by hand ok so hopefully it should be ok but wonder if i'm better off removing them again, what do you think.
they only protect valve stem and rocker face engines will do 10s of thousands of miles without them or with them as long as valves are adjusted
yours could be a 12j cos somebody needed a number for a dodgy engine,it happens

Thanks James, I've just been watching a youtube vid of a guy rebuilding a 12j engine and fitted a set of cups and as this engine in the 90 was very thirsty i was wondering if with the cups being missing the valves wasn't opening / closing properly.

as long as the gaps are set makes no difference
