My tip for this job. Get a recip saw or an airsaw if ya have a decent compressor and cut down (& up) thru the shocker retaining nuts. Rather than trying to undo the buggers.. then it's 5 minutes to get the shocks off instead of an hr..

& get new turret rings Cos ya certain to snap a couple of the studs on the old rings.

Or simply make sure you've got new turret rings, then the old ones are sure to come of with absolutely no problem whatsoever
Also good to know because I wasn't planning to! I should be able to drop the shock absorber out the bottom, right?
