My 110 2.5 N/A has drum brakes on the rear, can these be replaced with disc brakes or would it require a replacement axle?

200tdi disco axle fits perfectly
But it won't be a Salisbury axle tho'.
It is possible to convert a Salisbury drum to discs but needs some fabrication.
What is so special about the salisbury axle, I need educating
Even I want to convert mine to Disc on the Rear. Heard that Zeus have a kit of say 600 pounds. Too expensive.
I have taken my disc braked salisbury axle off my 110 as it restricted ground clearance to much, i have fitted a 300 disco axle to mine and all it required was the spring seats swapping and a 30mm spacer making for the prop shaft. So far it has done over 10,000 miles towing a 3.5 ton trailer/loaded up to the roof with engines etc and has not given any problems - only thing I did notice on first fitting is that the rear braking isn't quite up to what it was before as the rear discs are smaller but by fitting some Ferodo pads in it now out performs the original
300 or 400 quid is a lot cheaper than a 600 quid "conversion". Probably not as cheap as a second hand disc braked axle though. You can buy all the parts to bolt on disk brakes to a salisbury axle no problems. you will need:
New stub axles,
new hub assys,
set of disks,
pair of bloody expensive caliper brackets, pair circa £80,
pair of calipers,
new drive shafts pair,
new drive members,
All can be bolted up but I think its the best part of £300 or 400 quid
