Can anyone offer some advice to a new member? Our 1986 110 Stationwagon (later 19J engine) has developed a judder at the back end. I will be checking the drums and pads but it seems to come from the rear under braking, as if the back end right side is trying to "carry on" when the vehicle is coming to a stop. I will check for leaking wheel cylinder and oil contamination of the shoes but has anyone else had a similar problem or can give me any pointers? Rear brakes are drum, front discs. thanks.

hi new memeber! of course we can TRY and help, but we cant guarantee anyhting, the lads on here really know their stuff, so they will respond no doubt soon, i am sorry,i cant help with this one, but the only i can ask is that there might be something wrong with the pads, basically, what you mentioned abouve. people will respond to this post soon. Cheers, rob

Brake judder can be caused by a number of things eg

leaking cylnders
Out of shape discs or drums
Shoes or pads loose or insecure ( shoe pins, that hold the shoe to the backplate )
Prop joints
Traling arm bushes worn
Weak/Leaking shockers

The list goes on realy, The only way you will tell is by checking , Then repost and say ive chqed A B C and it still does it , any more ideas lads .

Hope this helps m8

Thanks for your replies. So far I have found the brake cylinder right side leaking so no doubt contaminating the shoes. I will change cylinder and shoes both sides. I don't feel I am struggling alone now! Cheers.
