110 300tdi CSW Rebuild

This is going to take a while but I have to start somewhere!

Having owned the Land Rover for three years and putting it of for quite a while, tonight I finally put it in the shed and got started.

I have a new chassis ordered and have more or less bought new galv doors.

Everything that can be salvaged will be blasted and painted and a complete colour change is on the cards.

Tonight I got her in and took the doors off leaving them complete to build into the new doors one at a time.

I started stripping the front as I don't think I will be putting the bull bars back on instead a standard bumper or an A bar.

Here is a few pics of her before and a few after the doors have been took off.

I hope the wife understands what lies ahead!

expect many horrors to be found lurking within and the amount of seized thingys you will find
Are you swapping it over in bits or can you get help to lift the body as one with equipment?

I have a lift but will take it apart mostly for the respray.

On Tuesday night I got to do a bit more. I have more or less the whole interior out including the household carpet, must have been an offer on. I removed the rear door that I am going to keep as it is in quite good shape. All the glass was removed along with the roof rack ( which is now for sale along with a newly fabricated platform cw hand rail!). I then took a few more bits off the front including the bonnetand radiator etc. This will let me into the engine the next night. Does the engine and box all come out together or what is the best approach to this?
The chassis should be here next week so will have it along side, maybe help for rebuilding.

Take the body off first and then you can remove the engine and gearbox in one go.

+1, if you lift off the rear engine hoist bracket on the engine it hangs nice and level.

I can hardly remember starting mine it was so long ago lol, looking good and you have a long road ahead but its worth it.....

my rebuild is here as a flickr set, feel free to browse and ask away, will eventually get my site uploaded but theres only so many hours

Tonight I striped the headlining, the sunroof. We then took off the roof, front windscreen panel, rear window panels and the rear capping. Is there a manual to put this all back together??!?!? Next will be the rear tub, floor panel then the seat box. Dear only knows what lies below. Here are another few pics.

Chassis will be here on Tuesday. Will paint it semi Matt black this week before setting it alongside for rebuilding. Should I be this excited about a chassis?

After patching for the past two MOTs the peace of mind will be great.
I read on another thread that they removed the self leveling mechanism, what are people's thoughts on this?
