tis a bit of a long winded process but if you want age related plates it's worth it,you just got to do it by the book and make sure all relivent paper work and documentation is spot on,lets face it if your gonna take on a project like this it's got to be done right else you just as well not bother.
 
One alternative which might get round the IVA I thought about is this:

You are perfectly entitled to replace your chassis with a brand new one and the new chassis takes on the old identity number.

One of the replacement chassis makers (i think it is Richards Chassis) now do a 100" Defender chassis. So you buy a nice new galvanised 100" chassis for your Disco. The new chassis is not modified at all, it is as supplied. The fact that the Disco body would be difficult to attach to it is irrelevant.

So apart from the cost, what's the flaw?

not replaceing like for like is a mod.....sva or the like required to retain plate or q is applied if not enough original parts are fitted,.:doh:
