Hi All, I have a recently purchased FL1 facelift HSE (intro already done, and a welcome, welcoming response received), with the Becker CD/radio, Harmon Kardon amp and CD mutli changer under the driver’s seat.

Reading through the posts I’ve found, it seems obvious that the lack of audio is due to the speaker connectors rusting/failing/need cleaning in 3 doors.

Drivers door – fine. Main speaker OK, tweeter OK. Front passenger door, tweeter only. Rear doors, very low volume, appear to be tweeters only.

CD multi change – powered up, no audio.

I’ve found a post that outlines the door card removal, so hope that this covers the work once started. Cleaning probably will be with scraping/fibreglass brush, or if the speakers are beyond repair, replacement with something appropriate.

The multichanger? Got to be (1) an issue with the unit itself, or (2) the feed cable to the loom that goes from the head unit to the amplifier under the passenger seat or (3) the loom that goes from the HU to the amp. There’s some blue coloured tape inside the flexi conduit which once investigated, may suggest someone has been there with wire cutters.

I’ve replaced the HU with a spare radio with ISO connectors, and no change. The amp seems to switch ‘on’ as the drivers door speakers work OK.

Any one wanting to throw something else in to look at, please feel free to do so ... and thanks in advance

K.
