Hi i have a 1.8 freelander with an oil leak on the right hand front side of the engine near the thermostat housing - When i rev the car hard it seems to bubble oil out between the head gasket joint, its running ok and not useing water. Is this a common place they go and is there an oil way at the side?

How long does it normally take to replace a head gasket?

Any advice would be gr8

Clean the oil off and make sure that it is definately the head gasket. It may well be the rocker cover gasket leaking which will be a whole lot less hassle :)

Having said that.......an 1.8 head gasket will take upto a couple of days, depending on how bad it is and if done properly or not (this also allows for a light skim of the head etc).

What part of the Country are you in?

We are in North Kent & are predominantly an MG & Rover garage but service most makes but as the Freelander 1.8 is a Rover "K" series we should be able to assist - 01634 388999 or www.mgr-service.com
