BBA Reman say on their site they have them with two to three day delivery. But came across this eBait advert down in Ramsgate with exact same part # Bosch 0265950056 ver 0268946. Don't suppose there's a "reset to all defaults" in the ABS controller by any chance?

There's a lot of stuff controlled from it.
The ABS module sits on the front of the valve block and can be removed separately to the pump and valve block assembly. Note: depending on which one you get (especially secondhand) it will need coding to your car.

The replacement I used was from a diesel and needed to be coded to my petrol model using Testbook (Rangers of Guildford did it for me over a lunch break - really helpful chaps!)

It's not as if driving a volvo V40's that bad :oops: Did you mean that if the ABS ECU had come from a diesel then it would have to be re-programed? Or that coz it's from another car it'd have to be re-programed in any event?

The one I bought was New-Old stock (unused but from a defunct dealership) but was for a Diesel model of the same year as mine (they are the same unit, just with different firmware installed).

The ABS ECU is used as part of the DSC/CBC/EBC etc etc etc system and the ABS ECU needs to know which car it is plugged into as it says to the databus - 'Hi, I am a super super new ECU and I am from a Diesel, how is everybody today?' the other ECU's will then reply saying things like 'Hi, I am the Petrol Engine ECU'.....and then the ABS ECU will reply'Oh,....erm....I think i am in the wrong place....I think I'll put a warning light up and let someone know!'

It took about 30 minutes to re-flash the ABS ECU to tell it it is now a petrol ABS ECU....

So it is best to get a petrol one straight of the bat, but even then I think you still have to get it coded or reset once fitted (if it is a new one) but you should be OK replacing like for like if using seconhad petrol to petrol ones....but I could be wrong and it may still need to be told to play right and stay straight!

And there's this second hand one that seller says in his advert comes from an '03MY. Both petrol.
I've messaged him but eBait's board won't send the message as it considers I'm "trying to deal outside of eBay." As if I'd do that :)

I've asked the workshop to confirm which one they want -- and having scoured 15 threads on this board this morning (just another six to examine) have learned a lot about ABS Controllers and how that fault can be generated by anything from the foot brake switch, speed sensor not pushed in far enough, wheel wobble due to hub or bearing wear pushing it out too far again, weak brake accumulator (is that P38 alone for the black domed one?), power to ABS ECU on fuse 38, ABS pressure warning switch -- so far

I'm finding it difficult to type with this canvas jacket on...

I'll bet! :) You've more patience than a patient thing. I have been following this thread since the start, and I take my hat off to you for sticking with it :)

It drives so well -- when it drives that is. Seller says has done timing belt tensioner, re-built suspension pump (it goes up and down correctly) and has Prinz LPG, not to mention the new tyres and came with a year's MOT (now three months of which is wasted) So am persevering for the present. It's been nice and sunny on the ward...

No, haven't got there yet. It has been stopped for hours with engine on tickover though while various combinations of settings are tried with my iSoft clearing codes that immediately seem to come back. The last I know about was "ABS fault being reported to display" that I couldn't clear either. We'll see when workshop comes back to say which ECU they want. At least that seems plug 'n pray

Went to Elstree in a Volvo V40 -- hmmm, well it does what it says on the tin...

Last week had a call from the workshop to say all's well with my RR, so down to collect by Volvo V40, not chancing BR again -- look what happened last time...

Parked up and met with a £400 bill inc VAT for changeout of the ABS ECU with the one I bought for £217 inc p&p from Ramsgate advertised as from a petrol '03MY L322. Workshop swears blind it was from a diesel and so had to get "his mate" round to re-program it. You can tell by the serial number he says. So that's three hour labour plus the cost of a new NSF wheel speed sensor that I insisted should be OEM at £83 all +VAT

Drove home Friday before bank holiday at half past five M3/M25/A2 with everyone else driving home too nose to tail all at 70-80 +mph -- eyes out on stalks, veins on neck sticking out, sweat of concentration -- great. Just the time to be driving a car you have'nt driven for three months and then only for a week. With a zero reliability record wondering what's going to give out next. All in the half light with occasional drizzle.
The more I drove it, the more I liked, the more I relaxed. It's true: when they're good they're very very good! Got home, parked up not feeling half the stress I would've had were the trip done in the Volvo (or that awful Renault Laguna Derv) Even the Prins LPG kicked in... And the sat nav started working (when it wasn't before)

The car's been working ever since -- driven it every other day 24 miles round trip. Bit clunky in the front end somewheres. And a bit tickity-tickity from the engine. But apart from that...

So I'm none the worse for the experience --
I saw my case officer last week.
A Detective Sargent. Her name's Clarice.
I've been expecting her...

Having watched this from the beginning (no idea of issue) I very much appreciate that @RichardSEL has persevered through all this frustration & documented it for others. Now I hope he can enjoy his wonderful L322.:)

So came up the A2 and an Audi (why is it always an Audi?) decided to drive up me chuff all heads flashing and obviously in a rush to have a ****. So, for the first time, I booted it instead of moving over. I'm on the LPG and there was a little bit of hesitation, a cough and then jeeez! Did it go! And what a roar! Not expecting quite such a response I had to back off once I'd "reached the legal limit, officer" just to see that Audi by now well in the distance.
I didn't know they could do that :p

To tempt fate, it's been starting first time every time now -- if the Prins LPG hasn't quite got back into its "start on petrol" state due to engine still being hot then it dies, but then starts properly the next time.

Not sure about the suspension though, it doesn't like trying to be forced into lowest when parked. And continual 65 - 70 now doesn't result in the green light adjacent to the roadway centre mark getting lit (to show the low setting being selected for that speed) The NSF ABS wheel speed sensor has been changed for an OEM. And the ABS pump ECU has been changed for that second hand one that was reported as also coming from an '03MY petrol L322. But the mechanics reckon it'd come from a Derv. So they had to re-program it.

I tried forcing low setting roadside by using the control knob but the amber centre light just flashes three times, low setting isn't shown. A fault came up on the display so I used my iCarSoft 933 to clear it to get back to normal when the air pump wouldn't start. The pump started up as soon as I cleared the DTCs and dash returned to normal too.

If its any help the numbers on my old ECU that mechanic condemmed are: Bosch 000122 then 31791, then 292049, then 0 265 950 056.
The seller of the replaced ECU gives serials as from their eBay advert as:

Which mechanic says is from a Derv. Welp, it's certainly not a 2003 ECU even if it came from an '53MY L322 as advertised

The coroner's report has just come out saying "Death by unlawful killing by person deranged from owning a Range Rover L322". My case officer says that due to the cuts and there being not enough prison places, I'll probably get community service.

Just a quick note to praise H2H for their quick response in offering, then paying me a decent discount coz the ECU they supplied was an '01MY and not as could be expected from their advert an '03. Seems in a field of "others" they're serious in trying to provide a decent product

The "over 100km/h for 30 secs suspension lowering" now works. But not quite sure whether or at what point it's meant to raise to normal position when starting from cold and suspension has been lowered to ease removal of shopping or self?

Previous owner says there was some sort of wiring loom that was fitted to avoid an issue with battery drain still happening after 15 minutes of switch off and lock up. Where can I see this new loom? More important, does it work? I've only been using the car every other day. But is it safe to leave unused for one or two weeks or more without any appreciable battery drain? New Yausa 900Ahc fitted January. Single push on key fob lock button to lock.

@Grrrr... so, what's happened to yours?
 
The L322 lowers to highway height after 30 secs above 100MPH and drops back to standard after 30 secs below 80mph. So, unlike the p38, unless you spend lots of time on German autobahn you are unlikely to get highway height.
