02 TD4 Pulsing under Light Throttle.

I knew after i had said we have had no major issues with her Freelander something would happen.:rolleyes:

Anyway, under light throttle loads her car has started to pulse, acceleration is fine all the way to 90mph and above if required, it idles spot on but after coming off the gas at say 60mph you can feel it start to pulse slightly.

It only seems to be when you re-apply the accelarator to pick up speed when you have inniatially backed off a bit.
If you apply a lot a gas its never happens only when you apply slight throttle.

I'm thinking fuel pump (s) the car has 54k miles and has recently had a Roverron upgrade fitted, i have it on setting 6 which it has been fine on for nearly 2 months.

Ideas greatly welcome.
 
try unpluggin r/rons fing fer starters. . .then its air filter fuel filter. . . .get simple things outa way furst,mind you could be dodgy fuel. . . .:)
 
Removed the Roverron box and the car is fine again :confused:

I have now cleaned the K+N filter together with the MAF and i also cleaned the engine breather filter.

I will put the TU3B box back on later in the week and see how it performs as the wife is now moaning about the lack of performance.

strange one that zips. . .wot was k&n like? possible faulty rons box [rare though] he would sort it out if it twas. . . .:)

Where does one get a TU3B box ... my woman might like the idea
 
Send her round to mine and i will give her a S.O.R.E Box which she can take back to you for further examination.:D

I e-maiiled Ron who has now got the box back, he will re-flash it or replace it which is fair enough.

The K+N filter was fine, i'm sad in that i remove the MAF and air filter every 3 months when i give her car an oil change and clean everything, the only thing i did differently was the engine breather filter but the car was running fine after the tuning box was removed.

I will see what happens when the tuning box is re-fitted.
 
UPDATE:

Sent the TU3 box back to Ron 2 weeks ago and received a replacement yesterday from Ron.

Delays with the post was the only issue (Thanks Royal Mail) i cannot fault Ron with his customer service at all, he repaleced my older unit with a brand new replacement without quibble.

Its now on the car and it seems to be fine again.

I'm glad the new one is working. I was also about to suggest disconnecting the maf sensor in case this was a bit dodgy.
