Recommend me some oil

Besides the point of the post but I would recommend an oil analysis. A good tribologist will give you the right interval to change, viscosity, status of wear to your motor etc. They will review friction, wear, lubrication and advise the best motor oil to go for which could affect cost hopefully in a good way and not in a bad way. Check out Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids with respect to motor oils. With your best interest in mind, if you're planning on buying another barrel, I would advise this approach before dropping cash.

Mate….i don’t mean to be rude, but it’s a LR 200tdi. Not a supercharged speed machine. They are designed for farmers and the military who might need to use any old crap just to keep it running and doing its job. I’ve had mine running, and running well with filtered used engine oil as fuel.

Yeah I know but just thought of throwing that in there just. I am a nerd for oils. I got to throw this last one as well but if you want to keep your motor really clean, google "insane diesel - 1 micron progressive filter". I dont have it because I dont need a third filter but for the older motors at this age I would consider it especially for a diesel using mineral oil. Just another additional advice to extend your oil intervals and keep your motor clean. it wont effect your additive package as additives are in nanos not microns.
 
Eurocarparts are expensive now, for just about anything. I rarely buy anything from there anymore, occasionally they have a good offer that makes them competitive but not very often.
I have not been in their for years, went in the once and asked for price on front brake pads for wifes A6, 96 quid he said, I was still laughing when I walked out the door.

I have no interest in extending the oil interval. the factory interval is 6000miles, I have changed it at 6000miles for the last 400k miles, I am happy to change it every 6000miles. Going longer against the factory recommendation seems foolish to me.
 
You would be surprised how far you can extend a motor oil interval nowadays provided you have the science and data at hand. 6,000miles on mineral perhaps your right....... but this is why a tribologist could save you money in the long run as they would recommend otherwise. A bypass filter is just another piece of equipment that would probably help your truck at its current mileage. Who knows, maybe this advice could take you to 800,000 miles which I hope you achieve....

At 400,000miles I would want to know what's the current status/condition of my motor

I do mine every 4000 as it’s the cheapest form of maintenance I think you can do

all depends do you do 10 miles a day or 1000? do you start the engine once a day or 10?

I see you have edited this post which I had already replied to, which is why I do not recall reading the be a man bit beforehand.
Over here we call that sly or under handed, ie untrustworthy.
