Confirmed nearside front wheel bearing is shot. Booked in for replacement next week.

This is the second time this particular wheel has had a bearing failure. None of the others have failed in almost a quarter million miles. Weird.

It was approximately 100,000 miles ago. They may well have used a cheap aftermarket bearing made out of chinesium.

I will say I was shocked how much play there was when I jacked the wheel up and shoogled (a good Scottish word) it. The car is off the road until I take it to the garage on Wednesday. I checked the other three wheels; all rock solid, no play I could detect.

I just wonder what is going to wear out next.

First clean after the tailgate refit. We'll see how long it lasts now.

Before that though I went looking around - I'm told the GPS antenna plugs into a box under the seat.. only the video I watched didn't have the obstacle I had which is a pretty firm plastic shield between me and it. So I can't reach in there to do anything, and this shield has no obvious method of coming off.

Little check on the dipstick too, so went out and got some 5W-30 after the wash.

Couldn't even get the bolts undone on the wheel speed sensors, let alone clean them. Instead I disassembled the brake light switch and cleaned that which had the same result of finally making the two amigos bugger off.

I also went on a side mission to get the interior lights to come on again when the doors are opened after they mysteriously stopped doing that a while ago - Mission was successful.

However the other side mission of trying to get the radio aerial to work was unsuccessful, mostly due to it being a half-arsed effort.

Changed coolant temperature sensor. Quire a bit of limescale on it. Hoping that nails it. If not thermostat modification next.
