Sorry if not aloud does anyone know if the ai cameras in the uk will fine you for not wearing a seat belt in a car that legally doesn’t need them

Maybe if you have an under 3 in it, and vehicle did not have seat belts originally

Ai camera doesn't send out a fine, a human does it, at the moment. Whether that is any better I wouldn't like to say.
If your vehicle is legal to drive with out a seatbelt then you can appeal the fine anyway.
If you have seatbelts then I believe you have to wear them.

Just a 'trial' at the moment but I can imagine they will be more widely deployed in the near future ...
Just had to Google up the facts.
Compulsory to be fitted from 1965 ? onwards (although apparently my 1970 2A doesn't need a centre seat belt), but not compulsory to actually wear them until 1983.
I remember that some Del Boy type entrepreneur started selling Puffa type jackets with a black diagonal stripe across the front.
They never took off, but maybe it's time for a revival ?

They are easy to spot… but catch you doing everything.
The little ai thing takes a photo & grasses you up.
Now look in some vans you will see cardboard boxes on dash so driver puts his phone inside it. Can’t prove they were on the phone so photo thrown out.
