Having spent the day on the plains of Salisbury yesterday I am just thinking of going out in the AM and after pressure washing it, working out why mine decided to get all shaky when braking at speed on the way home last night. Will be a full up on 4 axle stands and check all bearings etc in the back garden. May just be some crud somewhere. Have to love greenlaning....LOL

before the hub/disc & bearing change hands at any o'clock lots of movement lol. now no movement.
no mud in my wheels i may abuse it and make it work hard but i do try to keep it maintained and clean as best i can haha

what i can tell you is that it starts to shake/wobble the steering wheel at around 30-35mph and seems to happen more when on a slight left hand turn. and by slight im talking the sort where you hold the wheel at half 11 rather than 12 lol

18 days to track it all down and fix it i wont be beaten....
 
when "playing" with mine today my driver side caliper had 3 free pistons and a solid one. its free now but wouldnt mind betting thats not a random 1 off problem only on mine.

wheels will be getting swapped around tomorrow however i already know one of my rears is fooked lol balance machine had trouble! i have a full set of steels for it but with xmas and now the damn mot cant afford the arches to get them on there haha.

That was my thoughts, better get onto @Paul D , LOL . Feels OK at lower speed, but at road speeds 50 ish it does start to shake under braking. Was snotty as hell on the plains.

So as said, a good jet wash down the local garage ( that will please them ....:p) , then into the back garden, up on stands , and check everything before wheels off and check all the brakes. Good to do after a few months and about 300 miles of quite hard Greenlaning.

not really a hijack its almost the same problem may as well keep it all to one place. either one of us or anyone else on here could help out fix one or both :)

my weights being missing is possible when i've adjusted the bearing on passenger side tomorrow i'll swap wheels about then failing that it will be ring a mate who dont live on a hill so i can go put it up on stands lol
 
Ha well if it's any constulation (f00000kin big word fu this time of night) I always drop mine onto a mates ramp before MOT & give it a wigggggle & Shake to see if owt wonts doin ! Last time track rod ends & wheel bearings ! So renewed track rod ends & gave the bearings a tweeeeeek ! BUT while doing the track rod ends the s/damper snapped a thread of 1 end :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: so welded a new 1 on !:D:D:D Took 4 MOT + track & it passed
BUT on a certain road I hit a hole & get the start of the DEATH wobble But only for a short time ! but as time as gone bi it seems to have stopped ! so maybe I upset s/damper when I welded new bolt on ??????? :confused::confused::confused:

removed my damper the same time i changed the axle havent had one on there since. as for hitting pot holes i have tried to hit pot holes both sides to try set off the wobble and decide a side but no joy it only wobbles when it wants too lol

also i normally get whatever im driving up off the floor before mot time to check everything over but this time due to my awesome memory i planned it for the month after my mot haha

to put the damper back on i would need to remove the axle and drill and tap the hole for the mount that has snapped bolts in and im not sure the shock is actually any good lol
eventually it will be lifted 2" so will prob look into what after market options i've got when thats done. although for months after removing it i cant say i ever noticed a difference other than catching less things under the truck while im off road lol
 
Why remove the axle?

You only have to pull the diff, knock the swivel pins out, pull the half shafts out enough to clear the diff, 4 nuts on the prop, ring of 9/16 nuts around the diff and out it pops, clamp it upside down in a vice, clean rag over the differential and get drilling,originals are 3/8 UNC X1 1/4 but you could get away with drilling and tapping them out to M12.

or i can look for aftermarket when its lifted and leave the pain in the A$$ axle where it is lol
