Got a new filler hose made and went round the car last night looking to see what I need to reinstate the LPG.

Looks like I simply need to join two pipes that had been part of the triple tank set up. The electrics are 100% and the doghnut tank is empty.

So I'm off to see if I can track down the male/male joining piece and reinstate the heater pipes to the diffuser and with any luck I'll be back on gas...

I'll keep yawl posted :cool:
 
All gas pipe's connected, I went to put some LPG in and made an arse of myself... It's been that long, I couldn't remember how to do it :eek:

I got 2p in.......:confused:

2nd attempt, success :)

I put about 4 quids worth in and heard hissing :eek: It was coming from where the new pipe connected to the tank! I figured it did that each time I filled her before back in the day. So I went home, spun off the new pipe, put some of that red goo (as advised by the tanker driver who happened to be filling the tanks and all good). No more hissy fits :p

Anyhoo, I then came home and fitted the male/male (same method, red goo) and even though the cooling hoses aren't connected to heat the diffuser, I thought there was enough heat under the bonnet anyway so switched her over and "click" change in engine note, stall. Restart, "click" change in engine note, almost stall, rev, stall.... And repeat one more time, perfect. Assume air in the system caused weak mix.

Drove it a few miles and no issues except the teeny amount of LPG wasn't enough as the low gas warning came on. Which means, she warns you when there is aprox 5/6 litres left in the tank.

Tomorrow, I'll fill her up and see what happens. I'ma have to invest in a hoodjy wossname so I can plug in and reset the fuel trim now & then as well as kick it's ass just because.

But, today was brilliant so celebrating with a sniff of Jura :cool:

So, I don't pay road tax (or whatever it's calling itself this week) on George because of my injuries, now I can run her on gas, saving a few more quid, free dental treatment and no mortgage payments! I'm almost a refugee :D

I think Tore was about the 70p mark per litre. Still almost half price of petrol. I'll have to neck her and see what I get from a tank of LPG.

Sorry for the delay in replying,had to put son to bed...

Not 100% on the actual make, but it was fitted by Maxwell Conversions in Stirling, by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles going by the monster hole they gouged in the floor under the rear seat :mad:

They fitted it under licence to NME (Nicholson McLaren Engines Ltd.).

If it had been my 4year old car with that amount of butchery, I would have demanded an identical replacement WITHOUT the potato peeler sharp edged mess under my rear seat. What shower of bastards actually do that to a high end vehicle just to save an hour :mad::mad:

Anyway, the booklet that came with it says Further information regarding your SGI LPG system is available from Charles Bronson and Yule Brinner in Stirling o_O

That's about all I have. It is a multipoint system and seems well enough installed under the bonnet though.
 
I ask as I have a 11 to 1 USB LPG diagnostic lead - it connects with about 99% of LPG systems out there the only one it doesn't is PRINS I think, all you'd need to do is find out who your system is made by (the ECU that is), then if possible download the diagnostic software (many are available free from here: http://www.lpgshop.co.uk/lpg-autogas-diagnostic-software/ ) and If you need it I can lend you my lead....

And mine is the CCY Interface No.14 - works a treat on my OMVL Dream XXI-N HP system.

Saint, if it's any help it has AG on the on/off button on the dash and it says something about "AutoGas" in the bumf....errr, literature :D

So is it possible it could be Zenit, Sirocco or Razmus??

Well according to the list, my 11 to 1 lead will work with any of the above.....

And the Zenit Software looks to be available.....

Time to get your glasses out and search out if you can spot the model anywhere!
 
I'm not questioning your kind offer, but I wonder why you think it needs code read? It works beautifully as far as I can tell.

Are you thinking I might need to know now for when it does go wrong :D
 
Reading the link, these look like year of manufacture JZ-2009 ZENIT, JZ-2005 ZENIT, but on my tank it has 2004 stamped on it so I am wondering therefore if it could be these SIROCCO, RAZMUS....??

I now see you meant the Petrol ECU trims.....

Some LPG systems take the Petrol ECU trims and use those for gas injection timings - others don't and have their own set of trims....

No bother, standard OBDII ELM327 devices for a tenner will work on the P38 fuel trims!
 
OK, I am a prize plum! The beeping is NOT telling me the system is empty, it has a fault! It works when I start and press the AG button. Idling along is fine, driving gently is perfect, but soon as I demand power (foot down hard) I am rewarded with a stall and beep, beep, beep & flashing lamp. The problem is, this lamp is a warning of either a system fault or out of gas....Yeah, coz THAT'S helpful :rolleyes: How am I supposed to tell the feckin difference between broken or empty?

The other problem, is filling always left a bad smell, but I always thought it was the nozzle releasing left a puff and a smell. Turns out it has a leak at the filler nozzle where it goes into the tank on a 90 degree elbow there's a tiny crack so when I fill it it fills the tank, but the 1mtr pipe from the filler to the tank holds pressure and ****es out until it empties the pipe . Takes a few minutes, but that's one fault. I have called Tinley Tech and ordered a replacement.

So, I wonder why the system can't cope with full throttle? Could it be the solenoid near the air tank? It is ancient and not really needed, yet it is! It was for the other tanks, but I had to go through it as the pipework joins there. I plan to simply install a new pipe straight from the tank to the diffuser.

Any thoughts other than I am a plum??:p
 
Unless of course I am missing the obvious and the system isn't pressurised enough allow running at speed. I'm a bit of a learner here :(
