Salisbury diff rebuild

hi all , I'm having my Salisbury diff being rebuilt , the mechanic doing it for me says there is play between the planet gears and the crown wheel , he has tried to get shims but says he can't get any , has anyone else come across this and if so how did you overcome this ?

i presume he means play in the planet gears planet gears use thrust washer 607168 and sun gears 607169 google the numbers and see if any are available,some play in the diff gears isnt the end of the world its not critical like crown wheel and pinion settings

there's some diff info (part numbers etc.) in here (http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/parts_books/110/5_axles_suspension_steering_p398-471.pdf) (P424 onwards) but not sure if its a Salisbury?

It's a 1997 defender , the play is as soon as you come off the accelerator you hear it clunking .

id check half shafts and drive members before anything else,a heavy clunk can be pinion to crown wheel
