Speedo Sender Defender to Disco Transfer Box

Alot more awkward! I had a defender v8 one which has a black gear. Couldn't swap out as origional box and it's thinner, I ended up filing my transducer slightly think it had a diff cable on originally. Hoping it will read right when it's running lol
No doubt I'll end up buying a proper gear later and swapping. Then it prob be too big for transducer haha. Did mates transfer like yours and we forgot till after in was super stuck in too :D
black speedo drive is for tranducer type as 300 disco or td5 defender square drive is a different size , ratio of t/box has no effect on speedo just tyre size
 
I was just going to use the defender on because I know it's good and it hasn't been sat in a field for 10 years like the other one I didn't realise they were different!!

Do they have different colour worm gears for different vehicles?
They're for diff tyre sizes but the disco ones are diffirent. Say if you put a taller tyre on it will change the speedo reading that's how change

Wonder why my v8 def box had a black one, I thought it was a disco box when noticed cos the cable didn't fit then I swapped to transducer anyway hoping it will read right ish lol
 
I think if yellow is wrong there's s red and a blue?? Not sure which you'd need off top of head though James will know
if you have a cable driven speedo youd use blue for the biggest tyres its the only choice with any tyre above 7.50 as that was what it was for ,rrc and disco used 205 then 235 etc
 
After all that the sender I bought just fell apart! Literally plugged it in and unplugged it

Owch. 35 quid down the pan! I used the green version looked very similar to yours off eBay for 35 quid. Hasn't fell to bits yet.. I still need to get the new speedo mileage changed on 130k not sure whether to put it to the 80 of the vehicle or reset so after rebuild be 0
 
Luckily I was able to repair it!! Even the LR (green) one that came off was flimsy.

Not sure about the mileage I'd probably put it to the 80 of the vehicle. I did wonder about putting that speed sensor on a switch....;)

I like the new dash but they look like a lot of work to fit properly to the TD5
I've put the bulkhead and dash into a 300, the hardest part was the leccy but that was cos I changed to td5 wiring and clocks. Tank etc. It'd be alot easier for you. Just don't try use new clocks, fit old clocks into the new dash problem solved. Cos the td5 ones led they actually look really good in it
Obviously alot easier if fit whole bulkhead. A dash alone probably be hard
