I own a 110 300 tdi, I have just had the cambelt and a full service done, there are a few other jobs that need doing , like the prop shaft ujs and the swivels are weeping . It has recently started to feel like its seizing up after about 20 mins driving and a vibration that I think is coming from the o/s wheel. If anyone has any diagnosis I would appreciate the help. Thanks

Next time it does it find somewhere safe, pull over and jack the wheel up and try turning it by hand. A new set of bearings is twenty odd quid but a collapsed set of bearings plus a new stub axle, rotor and stub axle plus recovery might be a tiny bit more :p. Could also be your hand brake not releasing properly and tightening up as it warms up;)

I'd suggest warming it through, and then jacking each wheel in turn ( or getting it on a two post lift ) and seeing if you can feel the tightness - and whether any backlash in the transmission feels normal, and consistent....
If the swivels are weeping, then time to get some grease in them ASAP, and then rebuild as necessary before one of them seizes.....
I could tell you a story about a seized swivel on an RRC, and how its not very driveable when that happens....

You need to type faster:p

just done my drivers side wheel bearing after I could feel it pulling to the right. when I took it apart the lock nut was loose and I could turn it by hand!

the bearing was rusty and a bit broken up with the rollers sticking out everywhere

my point is, yours sounds the same as mine and it cost me £25 for a new bearing, so it's a cheap fix if you catch it early!

Topped the grease up in the swivels, ordered new ones , new bearings as a slight squeal is now noticeable. So thanks to everyone . :)
