I know this subject is well covered, but my question is this: Is the "rivet to bolt and locking nut" fix recommended, or is it masking other issues.
My problem is a small oil leak from the riveted head, but my brakes seem fine.
I read on another forum that significant amounts of oil finding its way into the cylinder of the pump would suggest that the seal on the piston is defective.
To add to my confusion, I have also read that newer genuine or allmake parts are not as well made as the original one fitted 18 years ago due to the copponents used "something about a copper seal" so I am not that keen on replacing the unit.
So, my brakes are fine and I have an oil leek, will I be doing the right thing by Just replacing the gasket and doing the rivet fix? Should oil be that far up the unit?
I am keen to know what the mechanics on this forum think.
Thanks in advance.
