My brother and I would like to start 2016 the right way! Would anyone in the Salisbury Plain area like to join us for a sensible few hours, driving some of our local Byways/ ropey roads!

For anyone that's interested;

Meet at The George Inn- Longbridge Deveril, at 1400 hrs

• Move as a packet through to Kilmington, and work east back along the Roman Road that handrails the northern edge of Mere.
• At the A303 junction push north dropping off the high feature down into the Deverils- gates need to be closed!
• Cut through to the A350 and push further east on the Tytherington byway.
• Conclude the outing with the north south byways on the southern tip of the plain IVO Knook Camp.

All tracks are achievable on AT tyres if one exercises caution on the steep declines.

Sounds good too me mate. My disco 1 is stock, apart from diff guards and I'm about to buy some decent AT tyres. Do you think it would struggle very much?

No you won't struggle. The lanes will have dried out.

Chaps, I'm home next week and will conduct route recce's prior to our outing. Detailed timings/ ammendments will be posted shortly after.

Wiltshire County Council have placed a notice of voluntary restraint on a large portion of the route we were planning for next weekend. We will have to delay our outing for later in the year.

i have just bought a td5 disco & have recently come back to landyzone - will be looking to do the plain again once ive fixed my broken engine lol
