Chip upgrade td5

hi i use my defender 110 td5 for towing our family caravan every other weekend.... Was looking for more torque and wondered if anyone had used these upgrade chips and would recommend any? Thanks in advance

Theres plent out there, well worth some research and real life recommendations as some can cause issues and any tuning can make the td5 weak points come to the fore, thinking exhaust manifold warping, core plus leakage, turbo cracking, I had all these happen, some people have no issues and its all to do with the tune, dirty tunes will give high egr.
Ignore all the **** about 650 deg c max egr thats for old tdi plop!
Done well its a good mod, done badly it can get expensive, if its a cheap tune its cheap for a reason.
I think theres info out there where you can tune them yourself, again research required.

Ps I own 2 tdis before anyone starts crying.

Do not buy a chip off ebay and plug it in, this will **** your motor in the long run. The best option for you would be to speak to Mike at Dynachip, £225 for the map, its done to your preference and his work is excellent. However if you are towing as well I would suggest a larger intercooler as well. Rumour has it the new Britpart performance intercoolers are made by Alisport just slightly smaller, and slightly less WC but FAR cheaper. I've had one fitted for the past 200miles with no issues at all.

In regard to EGT temps for the most part you should be fine, the biggest issue is warping the manifold but its unlikely unless your pushing it really hard for a long time. TD5s run cool as standard.

Hi there. My Landy has a 5 alive remap and boost module and it's been on for 5 years now and it's perfect. I tow plant on trailers and have a big Twin wheel caravan and it tows beautiful with tons of power and very little black smoke like some remaps produce. I have also got bigger intercooler, blanked get, de cat exhaust, ITG air filter and oil change every 5k helps too

The boost modules are all well and good but only really allow you to up the turbo by 2psi. Marginal gains for £120 odd. I'm boosting 19/20psi now with no issues.

Intercooler is next on my list but mega bucks. Bankz, is yours a britpart one then?!?

Yup Britpart, so Sereck so Alive. Basically lol. Power take up is much smoother and ive noticed more low down power and better mpg
