We were within a bolt of finishing it, and hit a problem.

When torquing up the prop shaft bolts the last one wouldn't torque up. It's the end that connects to the hand brake drum. The bolt isn't turning the in drum but the nut isn't getting tighter either. It's as if the Britpart nyloc nut I bought stripped it's threads whilst doing it up!

Either way I need to now hack saw the nut off, take off the propshaft, then the HB drum and replace the bolt and the nut and put it all back together again!

Then…. to Slindon!

(How is the Defender. Engine all re-built?)

The 4.0 GEMS is only just a tad brisker....When I had the 4.0 I used to claim I had diesel performance with a V8 soundtrack!!



Only available in 4.0 or 2.5, based on the SE (trim level 2) model and available in 3 colours...Blenheim Silver, Bonatti Grey and Java Black

Bumpers and sills colour coded and the 18" Hurricanes were Gunmetal grey.

Leather was Ash Grey with Charcoal piping and the wood was Poplar Anthracite. Carpets where Ash Grey also.

Sat Nav and a central 'fill' speaker in the dash compliments the 17 speaker system.

200 made; 150 Petrol and 50 Diesel...deliveries made to Customers in August 2001

All back together, and running like a Singer sewing machine [that was fitted with a diesel engine from the early 90's ]

Running well, starts on the button, no smoke or oil burning, strong and pulls well...just got to re-check the valve clearances and all is good!

Still couldn't figure out the oil pressure problem on the P38 though....you and your brother were the masters of that adventure!!

Isnt the 4.0 ment to be only slightly faster than the 2.5? sure ive read that on here somewhere...

4.0L Gems would be slightly faster than a chipped 2.5. Westminster is a 4.0L Thor though so much more punch.
