Disco 1 300tdi 1997 manual

Trying to get the discs off the hub there seized on... This is what I've done..

Took the 5 bolts holding the disc off using a long bar, so the disc should come off, I've had it in a bench vice smacking it, bolted it in a wheel on the inside smacking it and trying to lever it with a crow bar, bolted it on the outside of a wheel smacking it with a gert big mallet doing the same.

Any suggestions? I've left it to soak in penetrating wd40 (not the standard blue one! This one says penetrant on it with a yellow lid made by wd40 ;))

Thanks all not the best of starts!!

Rite oh, it's in the back of my car on a wheel ready to take to work tomorrow, I'll give it a bloody good whacking then!

Thanks fanatic!

haven't done mine yet as I haven't had it long but had to do a few fronteras and I have found that some heat works a treat but then at work we have oxycetalene that gets some nice heat into most things :flame: but even a little plumbers blow torch should eventually get enough heat into it

We've got a butane plumbers touch and a bigger blow torch that works off one them 35kg propane bottles, hopefully that will sort it!

The trick is beat the disc and not the hub-I've split discs-but they surrender

cheat... take all the bolts out then stick it back on the car, roll car forward and brake, disk will spin on hub and break the seal

obviously don't do all 4 at once as you will have no brakes at all lol

I rarely have much trouble, just hold the hub and beat around it, but it's easy enough to pull hub off, undo bolts, slot hub back on and tap disc off

Rarely badly stuck just getting a good purchase is the hard part

Nice tip on using the brakes ste, guaranteed to loosen it but it's a bit of faffing about :D

thanks Noisy as you were typing my discs were coming off! :D there both off with a lot of whacking and leverage whilst bolted to the outside of a wheel :)
