How much to powder coat a metal nudge bar?

I've noticed my metal nudge bar is slightly corroded where some of the plastic has chipped away & wondered how much should I expect to pay if I wanted it powder coated?
I've not had anything powder coated before so not sure what the going rate is.

I know that a local company to myself will do a alloy wheel for around £25-30, black is the cheapest i think.
My guess about £40 max which should include sand blasting/ cleaning

Should be under £50. At most places. If in doubt pop to your local powder coaters and ask for a quote.

you can have it recoated with plastic my full length roof rack cost me £30 .I also have heard of diy repair kits if you decide to have it either plastic coated or powder coated take the plastic of your self and save a bit of money ,just go down it with a blade and it will peal

That was the eBay picture from when I bought it! I haven't washed it since!!!!

Was considering stripping my ZX9R and getting the frame & swing arm powder coated black at the same time.

In case of painting, nudge bar must be sandblasted very sharp.
They love to rust under those "plastic" shell that LR cover it. Also you should use a hammer on lower edges, probably those will require new ones:

Both sides look the same. There is a very little drain hole, and water is keep inside pipes. You need to make them bigger, and fill whole A-bar inside with body protective wax (like Vavoline Tectyl ML)

I need to cut out both lower pipes

Fit and weld new ones

Then refine welds, sandblasting (but those stock vinyl coat must be removed by hand. If you try to sandblast it it will be melt) and powder coating.
After repair looks like original

Only LR could PPC something, and it'll still rust under it

Fortunately mine are nowhere near as bad as those but I live in Seaford so rust from the sea air is a big threat. Think I'll take them off this weekend & get the process started.

powder coating is when an electrically charged paint powder is sprayed at an oppositely charged object, the powder is attracted and sticks, it is then baked hard in an oven

a plastic coating is usually done on top of a powdercoat and is where a polymer coat is sprayed on top of the paint (like a lacquer) in the same process as above..


But now though, theres a thing called Polyester Powder Coat (PPC) and, as the Polyester (type of plastic) suggests, the paint has a plastic mix in it, which saves the need for 2 coatings, and is more durable as the polyester is in the paint, thats what my ladders are painted with, its very hard wearing

yes it is but will still do what that push bar did, rust from the inside out

a small crack or chip will allow water to get in and work between the layer of finish, causing the steel to rust and swell causing more,progressive damage
