Freelander lost its ooomph!

No smoke at all as far as I can tell, just lack of power.

I have ordered replacement silicone turbo intercooler hoses from DPH.

After having a quick look, it seems that access to the jubilee clip down by the radiator on left side (large hose) is quite restricted.

Am I going to have a problem reaching that with a screwdriver to remove and then refitting with a T-bolt clamp or whatever they are called?
Do I have to remove anything to gain access?

to remove .. i used a small open ended spanner .. and lot's of swearing ..

to fit the new clamp .. i used a ratchet 'n long extention ..

whatever way you do it .. make sure that the clamp sits behind the lip on the intercooler pipe

i also rekoned some of the t-clamps supplied were too large ..
they still felt loose-ish after fully tightening them ..
i used some ss-jubillee clips in place of them .. or the smaller t-clamps ..
( think it were just the larger t-clamps )

Do I have to remove anything to gain access?

no .. i don't recall having to ..

not sure if this might help , i have just had to fit a new inline fuel pump (2001 td4 ) symptoms , were very sluggish and took an age to get up to speed

i also have a synergy unit fitted

Yes, that is also a possibility, although I don't think it has lost enough power for that to be at fault really. Hopefully my troubles will be over when the new hoses arrive though!

Got to do the same as "that bolt" has almost worn a hole through on the induction hose near the dip-stick. Have cut a small piece of hose as a buffer and fitted it over the bolt so it shouldn't rub again. No loss of performance yet so looks as though I have caught it just in time!

I think I shall be mostly choosing blue.

I went for black as I wanted all the hoses to be the same colour.

All done but have not been able to test drive yet as I am looking after a neighbour's children for the afternoon.

I started it up and I thought it sounded louder than normal, but I am getting over a cold from hell and my ears are still blocking up and then popping clear on numerous occasions.

I assume there is no reason it would sound louder just by replacing to two top intercooler hoses with silicone ones including the small one next to the sensor?

I expect it is just my extra dodgy hearing at the moment.

Are these silicone hoses susceptible to wear by the bolt rubbing on them same as the rubber ones are?

If yes, then I shall put some padding over the area by the bolt to protect it.

probably .. but ..
when i fitted mine .. i noted there was clearance between that bolt and the new silicone hose .. .. and many miles later there still is and no signs of contact ..
no harm in adding a buffer though if your worried ..
