I dislike spacers and would prefer offset wheel rims of whatever make. That puts any stresses where they were meant to be.
Er.......Bob is gay?
Alloys are ok for me, and I drive all day on outback roads never had an issue....I saw an episode of Top Gear on the African adventure thing. May smashed an alloy on a dirt road. It was a Volvo estate with low profiles on FFS, what did he expect.
That said, if I was going back to Africa I would run on steels. only because if I did smack an alloy its all over. With a steel I know I can go to the nearest shack / garage, and a guy with a hammer and a blowtorch will have it as good as new in two beers.
Also does cost feature in the decision? .... Is there a vast difference?
Is there a vast differance in price? have you even looked into this or did you just want to put up a poll.
Yes, Alot new, only a tad 2nd hand
Not really.. I have had a quick look but thought it would just be 'a bit of fun' as its a bit of a theme with my build... Just wanted other peoples opinions and so far had some good ones...
So.... Mr/Ms wickford90 whats yours?Steel or Alloy.... or are you afraid, you don't want the world to know you are a closet alloy fan??? :jaw:
would have polled it on my build thread but couldn't seem to find the options for a second poll....
17" Preditor alloys with ATs and Land rover 16' alloys with MTs, Happy now you,ve outed me.
Changing from alloys on the V8 to steels made a massive impact on looks but I like the look of it and was never really sold on the ES alloys it looks like it serves a perpous now![]()
I have alloys on mine at the mo but im changing mine to steel's ASAP as you can change half shaft's & tighten up bearings without having to take the wheel off!
Un-sprung weight!
