So this i my new purchase, Disco 300tdi Manual. 156,000 miles on the clock.

Current spec,

2inch lift (unknown make)
Partly polybushed
Braided front brake lines
Snorkel
Anti roll bars removed
16inch modular wheels
Checker plate accessories
Shed loads of rust

Onto the pics

Things i want to get done as soon as possible

- 1st port of call is to sort out the nice little hole i've just poked through the boot floor, either plate it or go with a new boot panel. Still undecided.
- Remove the fog lights from the roof, mount and wire up on the front bumper.
- Install remaining polybushes
- Extend the breathers

Hopefully after that i'll enjoy some fun times greenlaning and taking it Offroading.

2nd job is to remove side steps they will get bent or ripped off the 1st time you go laneing/offroading and the mud plough on the bk wont help either

Thanks for the suggestions guys, was half thinking about side steps as i nearly clipped my other car just pulling out of the drive!

Definitely considering removing the towing hitch and changing both bumpers to.

Tyres are on the list but will have to wait until i get the funds! Looked at the insa turbos special tracks 235/85/16 have you guys had any dealings with or any reviews about these?

So then after a day of whacking, unbolting and wire brushing things it turns out one hole in my boot floor has now turned in several!

Any advice people?

The biggest thing i'm concerned about is the hole on the next panel up (best seen on the last photo). Thats where the back seat should bolt in! Any advice will be appreciated.

I had just got my disco a few weeks back and it already had to boot floor done but the guy could quite clearly not weld at all so going to re do the floor plus the side floor panels and the inner and outer arches. For the extra cash it's really worth doing it. Got my parts from island 4x4 super fast and free p&p .

You'll only be chasing rust on the original floor, otherwise.

Plus when the boot floor is up you can clean up and treat the chassis from the top. I have a tin of por15 to paint it with after its all down plus don't forget to clean up the under side of the floor after welding your new floor in or it will rust and be holy again in no time

Thanks for the info guys, looks like i'll be ordering panels later on. Think i'll do it anyway but did you drop your tank when doing the work?

You don't need to take the tank out just don't go wild with a grinder buy a spot weld drill bit and take your time taking it all out as it will make it a lot easyer putting the new floor in. You don't have to weld the main floor area back in, pop rivets and mastics will do a better job.

Thanks mate, will be purchasing one tomorrow then! I'm half tempted to chequer plate it like what Mr Noisy has done but i'm still undecided. Either way the main panel needs to come out so i have something to be getting on with while i make my mind up.

Bit of an update,

After blowing up a drill, dropping the tank, removing the centre boot panel, chopping away the rust on the wheel, side panel and the next panel up, she now looks like this. Oh and I roughly sanded down the chassis.

I then couldn't resist having a poke at some more rust i found on the nearside rear wheel arch and side panel which now looks like this.

As i'm on a bit of a tight budget and having a read a bout the wafer thin panels some people have used I have decided to patch/plate and weld the rest up using fabbed metal.

A tip while you're at this point - take off and clean out the fuel sedimenter.
10x easier with the current accessibility.
