Central locking motor replacement

OK chaps, think I may have tracked down what the central locking motors are. Best guess is the Mabuchi 280PT-20150 or Mabuchi 280PT-22125. Does this look about right? Mabuchi Door Lock Actuator Repair Motor FC-280PT-22125 or PC-22125 Lexus Toyota | eBay

The long shaft is the one we'll need. I reckon the dimensions of the motor in the actuator are roughly 18mm x 24mm x 30mm so that looks about right. My concern is more about the shaft length as the one in my '95 model looked pretty long last time I had it out.

$2.60 each if you buy 60 it says. I don't know if that will be liable for local sales tax in Vermont but then there will be carriage and possibly customs on top.

If you're right you'd certainly get your money back and a bit of profit here and on ebay but if you're wrong - that's a lot of science projects!!!

Oh, blimey! I'd missed that! I was just chuffed at having tracked down a possible replacement at last. I'm still not sure about the spindle length until I next get the door apart and measure it though.

Took the motor out yesterday and had a good look. It just unclips which is nice and easy. It is Mabuchi but the length of the spindle from casing to tip is 26mm. So, 6 mm longer than the long shaft (20mm) stated above. On the other hand, does the extra 6 mm matter? Wonder if it was a specialist job? Grrrrrr!

You're taking me a long way back now but I can remember a tool that a friend had in slot-racing days that could adjust shafts, or replace them.

Basically, it was a G-clamp contraption that drove the shaft down the middle of the coil armature. I think I had to ask him to use it to move the drive gear along a few mm.

Interesting. Well, I have an old (broken) motor here so I could see if I could get the shaft out. I tried popping the silver part off but it is crimped on too hard. The shaft does pull down but then seems to jam. You could write a Carry On film with this ...

A lot of "ifs" there but I could do with a change of career!

Update.

2 main issues.

1 the contacts are at the top rather than the bottom.

2 after waiting four weeks or whatever for it to arrive I finally had 5 minutes for a tinker last night and couldn't find the motor. The missus had had a tidy up and thrown it in the bin the week before. So, not idea if I can get away with the slightly shorter shaft or not.

I think a break is necessary otherwise it'll either be suicide or homocide!

No rush as I've yet to fix (or pay someone to fix) the clutch. She's been sat in the rain since that broke a week or so ago.
