Hi Guys
I am currently building a 88" competition motor for ALRC events and seeing as it will take me a while I thought I would post the progress on here and see what folks think. so here are some pic's to kick off.

Ooooooo I love a stripped chassis

technically It isn't a stripped chassis as it's never been built up. it is a 109 profile but 88" WB built from scratch.

Owl, do you have all the measurements for the 88" chassis? and would you be willing to do me a copy of them? as i have an 88" chassis that is beyond rotten an its quite twisted so can't get accurate measurements off it

I don't have any measurements for a 88" this is constructed using a series two 109 factory drawing but with 21" missing from the middle.
You might struggle to get a drawing to work of I Know I did the workshop manual drawings aren't to scale.
Try and find someone with a good chassis that will let you take patterns.

Yes I am using the kv6 and PG1 manual gear box.

and 3mm sides and bottom

Hi just a quick update, Axles are built wolf diffs in disco 2 cases and next is the roll cage just waiting on some seats.

Make sure you check this weeks ALRC regs on roll cages it can cause a lot of disharmony if you get it wrong.

Is there any recent changes ? I am in touch with several scrutineers and the ALRC and try to keep up to date but to be honest it is a mine field, which is one reason it is on here. I have seen the update about 3mm mounting plates, also I understand they are discussing front and main hoop angles so am keeping an eye on that, but if you know about anything else please shout up.

Yes I am sure there are some folks affected by the new rule, but if you think about it the front hoop is no where near as strong as the main hoop having no diagonal bracing so it is important to not lean it back to far otherwise it will become ineffective.

Fundamentally the ALRC rules are very good but there is work to be done improving clarity and reducing ambiguity.

I like their regs tbh it keeps it on a levelish playing field. People cannot buy their way up th eranking so much and the comps prove that vehicles are capable without need for difflocks nor 10 tons of winches. I'm refubing an old 80 inch but nothing like the work you are doing. Its nice to see a uild thread of real comp motor opposed to another challenge truck thats lots of thought as the the look and not so much towards the comp side of things.
