Evening all,
As a few may know I've got an '82 Series 3 109 hi-cap in pieces at the moment, trying to get it back on the road. Admittedly it's been somewhat neglected over the last couple of months, too many projects on the go (trying to get the canal boat in a usable state for the summer mainly)
Was on a course at work last week that (for some unknown reason) involved an offroad driving course, and also involved me getting the works 110 very stuck! We'll keep quiet about having to get it pulled out by an L200 though lol.
The 109 I've got is far from a quick fix, needs work on suspension, welding in a few places, complete re-wire, engine conversion to be done, brakes and clutch not working, panels replacing, paint, etc.
Anyway, went to a family do with the girlfriend on Sunday and got chatting to one of her uncles, he told me he's got a 'mark 3 land rover 110' ( ) that's been laid up for a while and just needs a starter motor.
Had a scoot round earlier and it turns out it's actually a 1977 series 3 88", beautiful interior with seats & windows in the back, overdrive and freewheeling hubs fitted and looked solid underneath from a quick look. I know he wants rid of it, but I stupidly didn't find a price out and he's away at the moment.
A quick plan formulated:
- Buy the 88
- Run it until the winter/next year/whenever I've finished everything else
- Drop the 2.25 out of the 88 and stick it in the 109, and put the 200tdi thats on my workshop floor in the 88
- Fix the 109 up and sell it
Or am I being completely nuts and should I just persevere with what I've got? If I dispose of some other assets I should be able to afford to keep both, and I've got the luxury of a large secure garage at work
As a matter of interest what sort of money should I be looking at paying for said 88?
Any advice/opinions very welcome!
