Hi I'm John retired and living in the North East of England. I own a classic Range Rover under restoration a 1996 P38 v8 and have just bought a 2003 Discovery 2 Metropolice v8/Lpg. My son(ex land rover mechanic and auto electrician) helps keep them on the road and runs a 2008 Disco 3 tdv6. We have also owned three other Range Rovers and a disco 1v8/Lpg. What started all this was my first 3 door v8 R. Rover in the 80'
Hi I am restoring a 1970 LWB series 2A diesel. I am missing the 3 bolts for the starter motor. Does anyone know which bolts I should buy?
Hi - Did you ever get your S3 gearbox working correctly? I have just finished my 76 resto and didn't really do anything to the gearbox other than fit new bearings and seals. It makes horrid noises and jumps out of first. I'd be interested in buying new innards for it, but don't really know what's knackered and what's not.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi Tony,
I wish you luck with your engine removal. I've written a post on the forum with the steps I went through. Hopefully it will help you and others. I also hope that other people will add to it with additional information and corrections.

I hope that helps.
All the best,
Paul.

Hello, just joined, added a profile and, some replies.

I am ancient, can tune my carbs to easily pass MOT's but I am computer illiterate and don't want to offend anyone by my ignorance.
I can understand "like" but.
What are trophys?
Why do I receive emails taking me to your site, but, I don't know what to do then?
Different functions of bell and envelope click ons?
I am Series 1 age not Range Rover, can you help.
Hi Steve

Thanks for sending those references to me regarding my temperature sender for my Series 3 engine. I did some research and it looks like I can purchase the adapter bush which which screws into the engine head (part ERC 9432 and a suitable copper washer) and then get a temperature sender to suit a Smiths gauge to screw into the adapter.

Best regards

Guido
Have a couple of 109s, couple of 3 door discos, and a classic rr, all need work, but great to remember land rovers greatest achievements before politics took over!

Hi
I was searching for a Ford V6 adapter kit for a series Landy. I don’t suppose you still have yours?
A long shot I know.

96 Defender 90. It's a rolling restoration, doing it all myself here in Minnesota. She needed just a bunch of upkeep to be done when I got her three years ago. There are a few Defenders here in Minneapolis, most via Bishop+Rook but Lizbit was a direct sale from midlands where she used to deliver flowers.
If one person finds this helpful that is my justification. Discovered today that I can 're-boot' an unresponsive Freelander 2. All doors locked, bonnet open, but no response to key fob. Battery charge was good. What can you do? The answer was to disconnect the +terminal and re-connect; registering some kind of reaction and then found the fob would work. Major relief!!!
Removed front O/S footwell carpet today need to have hole in bulkhead behind pedals welded to give it more strength.

Carpets are in the house drying out not sure how long that will take.

MJS Headliners re-covered my liner. Great service, highly recommend.

Thinking about a ReMap any views on this?
Tidying up my Discovery 2.

Drying out, replacing headliner, fixing sunroof seals and leaks, replacing roof bar seals and adding some blue LEDs to the dash and Temperature Console.

Also filling holes that a previous owner used white silicon and sheet metal to seal.

Painting Rust Converter onto Chassis.

Lots of work forever as a Discovery 2 owner.
You're never too old to learn new things, but you can be too stupid
After many years regretting selling my old SIII Landy after doing a full restoration on it, I finally reached that age where I decided I needed to get my dream car, well nearly, I recently purchased a 2008 L322 3.6.
Good to know the forum is still going

I have so far experienced all those niggly little issues they throw at you after you drive one out of the showroom and after 130k miles, mine was looking for more attention than a mistress half my age probably would be insisting on with similar expenditure to go with it. But I'm still hopeful that after giving it some love, it i'll prove to provide me with some pleasurable journeys and reliable motoring.
