I think you're probably right, it's rather rusty down there and I don't think the cylinder is sitting straight. Does a new clutch cylinder kit come with the bracket? I'm considering just replacing the lot to be sure it's sorted

Many thanks - I found it. I wasn't sure what to lubricate so basically coated everything that moved whilst my partner pumped the clutch, doesn't really seemed to have done anything/much so I guess I'll need to either have another go or drive it home as it is (190 miles will probably not be much...

Airbox is off but I can't find anything that moves when clutch is pressed - any pointers?

Mine was very intermittent in that some days it was louder, some quiet. It was quiet the day it totally went. When it broke I really heard/felt it though!

This is (kind of) sorted. Front prop support was broken so removed rear prop and all is fine. I don't really go off road anyway, will just be careful about thinking I can get across fields etc in future!

How would one check those? Is it likely to be an expensive job? I can get up to speed, switch to neutral and coast.

I'm not sure what this means sorry :( What would I be checking for? Just the condition of the oil? I don't suspect the gearbox as it happens regardless of if the engine is being used to move the car or not. The sound is the same even in neutral.
