    Clutch/gear problems

Thanks, I'll just give the bracket a go first :) I've not left yet, tomorrow evening will be the decider! Worst case scenario it dies half way home and I get the recovery people out but it's been difficult for a while (not quite as bad but planned to scrap the car in a few months so didn't...

    Clutch/gear problems

I think you're probably right, it's rather rusty down there and I don't think the cylinder is sitting straight. Does a new clutch cylinder kit come with the bracket? I'm considering just replacing the lot to be sure it's sorted

    Clutch/gear problems

Many thanks - I found it. I wasn't sure what to lubricate so basically coated everything that moved whilst my partner pumped the clutch, doesn't really seemed to have done anything/much so I guess I'll need to either have another go or drive it home as it is (190 miles will probably not be much...

Any idea what size spanner I'll need to take the air filter box off?

    Clutch/gear problems

Thanks, I'm a little stuck on the searching - I'm currently 190 miles from home in a travel lodge with awful wifi, will try and do some searching in the morning if I can get better signal somewhere :)

    Clutch/gear problems

Hi all, my 1998 2.0 diesel Freelander has an issue I'd love help with. Basically in first gear but with clutch pressed it will still try to creep forward, also the bite point is very low. Clutch doesn't seem to be slipping but sometimes selecting gear is very difficult/not possible. Could it...

Whirring noise from front of car

Mine was very intermittent in that some days it was louder, some quiet. It was quiet the day it totally went. When it broke I really heard/felt it though!

Whirring noise from front of car

This is (kind of) sorted. Front prop support was broken so removed rear prop and all is fine. I don't really go off road anyway, will just be careful about thinking I can get across fields etc in future!

Whirring noise from front of car

I'm going to assume that's a very expensive fix? It's a 98 Freelander so doesn't have much value...

Whirring noise from front of car

This took a turn for the worse today, now it's a very loud metal on metal grinding noise when the car is moved at all, you can also feel it juddering/vibrating when you are moving. Luckily I was by the garage that looked at it last time so will try to get them to look tomorrow. Any ideas what...

Whirring noise from front of car

Noise is same regardless of gear/clutch position, it only varies with actual speed of the car. Fuel pump belt - no idea! Not for a fair while. There is no noise (other than the engine noise) when the car is stationary. Thanks for your help, I will try to have as much checked as possible, I've...

Whirring noise from front of car

How would one check those? Is it likely to be an expensive job? I can get up to speed, switch to neutral and coast.

Whirring noise from front of car

I'm not sure what this means sorry :( What would I be checking for? Just the condition of the oil? I don't suspect the gearbox as it happens regardless of if the engine is being used to move the car or not. The sound is the same even in neutral.

Whirring noise from front of car

Hi, I'm new here! I signed up as my car has recently started causing me more problems than usual - I can handle the odd problem (there have been many...) but I've started to lose my temper a little bit on this one :D Basically I have a 98 Freelander 2.0 Diesel and it started to make a kind of...
