Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

An update on the window wind deflectors - we went ahead and bought some from Paddocks. Sad to report it made b*gger all difference 😣

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

Yup we bought one after it became very apparent that the filter change was 'awkward' 🤣 given most of the YouTube vids recommended one!

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

Finally managed to change the hose after delays caused by Royal Mail deciding that the part I ordered should go to Leeds Mailing Centre for local delivery - bit of a long shot given I'm in West Cornwall...... Anyhoo part arrived late Thursday afternoon so the hose replacement was 1st thing on...

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

No didn’t remove any pipes - just felt around the junction to see if obviously loose. Will recheck and give the MAP sensor a clean. Thanks everyone - hopefully will get this issue sorted 👍

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

Had a good look around the pipes - nothing obviously loose. Just plugged an OBD11 reader in - no codes found…. Also the engine system check is not showing the message anymore. Don’t you just hate intermittent faults

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

Interestingly the message disappeared after leaving the car for a couple of hours. Started up, no message, drove 8 miles all good, then when accelerating hard up hill there was a sort of 'hesitation' and the message reappeared and stayed for the rest of the journey (8 miles). Yes we will run a...

Changed oil filter - now Reduced Engine Performance message

Changed the oil and filter yesterday FL2 SD4 HSE (OMG what a pfaff getting to the filter) so today have the Reduced Engine Performance message…. I didn’t take out the section of pipe by the filter, just pushed it out of the way to manoeuvre the filter in/out, so how probable is the message to...

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Thanks 👍 We have a sunroof - even with that tilted open there isn't much alleviation of the buffeting. No opening window on the tailgate - and I'm not going to use a hammer...🤣

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Thanks for the replies. We've had large cars/double cab trucks for years. This is the 1st time we've experienced such a noticeable buffeting, especially at relatively low speeds (30mph+). Our Defender does it at 50mph+. Yes it is somewhat alleviated by opening an opposite window as I noted in...

Buffeting wind noise with 1 window open

Afternoon Our 2011 Freelander HSE SD4 has the most appalling wind buffeting/interior 'cabin' pressure problem when only 1 window is opened. Our elderly dog has taken to wanting to have his head out of the window at all times when travelling in the car. In our Defender this is not an issue (just...

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Thank you for the clarification re the wading plug. Botheration re the seal - sods law given that we've just had the clutch done so if we'd checked earlier we could've had it done at the same time. Have to check down the back of the sofa for some loose change 😱

Help - Gear box oil filler plug rounded off

Ok - after the thrills of getting the plug out, and new gear box oil in, it appears that the oil is escaping from a hole at the bottom of the bell housing 😟. That would answer the mystery of where the oil has gone. 2 questions: the oil is dripping out of a threaded hole at the middle bottom of...

Yes - managed to persuade the torque bit in place, then gently applied the undo pressure - held our breath! OH has welded it in place 👍
