    Crankshaft sensor

Definitely you won’t find it on a 3.5 V8, it doesn’t have one manual or automatic.

Classic temp guage clocks sender or head

My disco runs just ‘north’ over the central line, as your gauge also runs just over the central line, being west as its a horizontal display 😊 If it stays that way like mine its not an issue.

Classic temp guage clocks sender or head

Looks similar to the dash that my 1987 3.5 so an EFI other than mine was MPH. As you have a 300 Tdi engine fitted so you require a coolant temp sensor part no. AMR1425 indicated by a green band. Thermostat if interested is ERR2391. The range rover dash illuminated indicators are self explanatory.

re programing my remote key 1998 300tdi

Hi to you. I’ve never heard of re-programming a D1 remote fob, but after disconnecting and re-connecting the vehicles battery the fob has to be re-synchronised to the security ECU, simply done by pressing the lock button on the fob around 4 times the central locking will then lock. So assuming...

DISCOVERY 1 OBD OR NOT OBD?? and REPLACEMENT KEY??

Ok, look for as they may have added by a previous owner of the vehicle the blue bag that was fitted at the rear of the centre console and the roller blind covering the boot. Both were added a year or so latter from the 1990MY disco and are now collectors items, sometimes found on eBay.

DISCOVERY 1 OBD OR NOT OBD?? and REPLACEMENT KEY??

Ok GA 1990 and so one of the first then, 3 door models were on sale around September 1989 with the 1990 model year, with the 200tdi or 3.5 with carbs. non electric windows, steel wheels plus the blue upholstery. It was rumoured that the 3.5 carb V8 was surplus RR stock. Definitely a dealer fit...

Defender Spotlamp Nudge Bar on D1

Bull bars for the D1 like the previous RR slotted through the under bumper spoiler to bolt onto the leading edge of the chassis. Then for the D1 there’s the A bar and made of … shall we say made of plastic and foam, which appears to me a lot lighter and a bit thinner but even that is only an...

    D1 Tachometer issue

The ignition warning light and rev counter are two different circuits, turning the switch to position 2 the lamp should illuminate and the spinning alternator turns it off, the alternator supplies a pulse signal for the rev counter, now its possible that you have a faulty alternator, the new...

DISCOVERY 1 OBD OR NOT OBD?? and REPLACEMENT KEY??

Well 1990 V8 thats a classic if it’s one of the first EFI D1. What ever the age of D1s they just have a standard key that can be copied at most shoe repair shops. As the vehicle has central locking with a remote fob but the alarm wasn’t a standard when it left the factory, and option fitted by...

Classic 1987 Range Rover Vogue SE auto 3.5L fitted with LPG Park safety

Yes there is an easy fix. Stated in the workshop manual the is idle speed is 673 to 728 rpm at normal running temp. The idle adjustment is on the throttle side, you may find a anti tamper plug fitted. Perhaps check at the mixture the same time You may find a Haynes Workshop manual handy as it’s...

    TD5 stereo code input

Depending on where you are in the world, and if the head unit is the factory fitted one, u could pop into your friendly LR main dealer and ask if they could could find the code on their vehicles build data base, u may be lucky. Much easer to remove the unit and take it to a repair shop…if they...

Upper two pistons not moving in both front calipers

My RRc knowledge only goes up to the 1992MY but I believe that all 1990s classic models had the same ABS system so with your abs system you will find additional bleed screws at the accumulator and and the hydraulic booster, both next to the abs unit the system is bled in a “very strict...

    Ignition Problem(Relays)???

Have look at the link which is for a disco, LR Discovery electrical manual 3.9 efi, there isn’t a relay involved with the ignition coil… the feed is from the ignition switch to the coil, via the immobiliser if fitted...

D1 suspension - improve ride quality?

The best of luck with that.😊 The D1 fitted with steel springs was pretty hard even when when it left the factory. The early RR is/was a “softer, floater ride” so u can try fitting springs with the same spec for that vehicle, but you will have fit a self- levelling system like the Borge strut...

Ok now that clear 👍 it appears that the ignition load relay is isn’t operating correctly when the ignition switch is in position 2. So iffy relay due to no 12v supply, or burnt relay contacts not closing if the relay is operating. Swap the relay with the one next door, or any of the yellow...

Wasn’t you bridging a relay supply to the coil directly and running the fan, therefore bypassing the operating switch circuit? D1 Windows have an electronic control unit ECU for four windows to control and interfaced with other bits and bobs if fitted to the vehicle, so has three fused feeds to...
