Some good points here lads, I'm trying to use them to talk myself out of buying a sensible reliable CRV in order to keep my old D1 and get it MOT'd. It's difficult, the CRV is no doubt more comfy along with that reliability factor heading around the M25.

Why the interest? Genuine question, why not buy a honda crv for example?

It is a dismal 1500kg braked towing capacity, agreed. However, with the rust toward the back of the disco and the reliability aspect of the CRV I'm kind of swaying this way.. I'd like to get the disco back on the road but need to weigh up the effort and overall costs vs reliability aspect...

Yeah I just had a quote for a mobile mech exactly this price but I supply. I had another from a garage around £400 - quite a lot considering that they're basic engines to work on shouldn't take more than one day.
