The hp side of my fuel pump died and it was exactly like you describe. In the end I couldnt get over 50 mph on the motorway or get up any hills without being in a low gear. I went down the wrong path looking for boost leaks etc as mine was only boosting to 7psi. New fuel pump and it flew again.
